CHICOPEE – Louise M. (Richard) Schimmel Gendreau, of Chicopee and a former resident of Ludlow, died peacefully in Wilmington, NC on May 12, 2017 at the age of 67. She was born in Medford, MA on May 6, 1950 to Dolores (Bouley) Richard and the late Louis Armand Richard. She graduated from Girls Catholic High School in Malden, MA in 1968 and was employed as a Postal Clerk at the Bulk Mail Center in Indian Orchard. She enjoyed reading mystery novels, traveling and loved to laugh and play cards. Her family remembers her as a loving, kind, funny and strong woman who encouraged them to pursue their goals, to work hard and to always be caring. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Curtis L. Gendreau; her two daughters, Cherylee D. Hagge and her husband, Brian, of Southport, NC and Jennifer E. Stanley and her husband, Jeffrey, of Enfield, CT; her four grandchildren, Ryan and Amanda Royer, Jackson Stanley and Gabriella Gendreau. She was predeceased by her father and also by her brother, Raymond Richard. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The funeral home parking lot and main entrance are located at the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Services will conclude with a Graveside Prayer Service on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at Saint Aloysius Cemetery, 1273 Berkshire Avenue, Springfield, MA 01151.
