Elliot H. Taber, Jr., 94, of Westport, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Hathaway Manor. He was the husband of the late Caroline E. (Sonntag) Taber and Colleen N. (Orr) Taber of Westport.
Mr. Taber was born in Westport, son of the late Elliot H. and Albertina L. (Sherman) Taber and had been a lifelong resident of the town. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a self-employed stone mason, a craft he was very well known for around Westport. A veteran of WWII, he served his country in the U.S. Navy as a member of the Sea Bees. Mr. Taber enjoyed working in his yard and spending time with his family.
Survivors along with his wife include his 2 daughters: Diana Taber and Judith Taber, both of Westport; his sister: Patricia C. DeAndrade of Assonet; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Barry E. Taber and Edward G. Taber and brother of the late Conrad V. Taber, Donald N. Taber and Evelyn L. Cornell.
Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the Potter Funeral Home from 5-8 P.M.
Funeral service will be private.
