William D. Munro, 90

William Munro, age 90, of Attleboro, formerly of Taunton and Foxborough, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Sunday May 21, 2017 at the Village at Willow Crossings in Mansfield.

Born in Foxborough, MA on May 5, 1927, he was a son of the late Walter and Winifred (Nichols) Munro.

Bill grew up in Foxborough. He was a 1944 graduate of Foxborough High School, where he served as the President of the senior class. He future his education, graduating in 1950 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University and in 1954 with a M.S. in Mathematics and Physics from Northeastern University as well. In 1957 he earned a Certificate from Oak Ridge School of Reactor Technology.

Mr. Munro was a firm believer in strong work ethics, and for over fifty years owned and operated Munro Electronics in Attleboro. He was also quite proud of his many years of previous employment at the former Metals and Controls in Attleboro, which was a big part of his past.

Bill’s work was his greatest passion. He continuously strived to seek a continuous pursuit of knowledge and was well regarded and respected by his piers for his expertise of engineering.

When not at work, Bill enjoyed swimming, jogging, kayaking, sailing, traveling the world on dive trips and photography-especially underwater. He had made his home in Attleboro for the past thirty-five years and formerly resided in Taunton.

The Munro family would especially like to thank the staff of the Village at Willow Crossings in Mansfield for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Bill.

He is survived by his devoted children Peter D. Munro and his wife Laura of Norton, Beverly J. Northam and her husband Finnian de Pont of Norton, Thomas O. Munro and his wife Deborah of North Dighton, Laura L. Munro of Taunton, and James W. Munro and his wife Lisa of Rochester. He is also survived by his loving 8 grandchildren Cassandra, Nathan, Jessica, Emily, Matthew, Ariel, Margaret and Michael, as well as 5 great grandchildren.

Services and burial will be private.

Visiting hours have been omitted and those wishing may remember William with a donation in his memory to the charity of ones choice.
