Paul J. Eldred, 93 of Lawrence, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Mary Immaculate Nursing Home in Lawrence. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary J. (Currier) Eldred, to whom he was married for 69 years.
Paul was born in Andover on October 20, 1923, the son of George and Zella (Biancone) Eldred. He proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a sheet metal worker with Andrew Wilson Company in Lawrence for 32 years until his retirement in 1986. He also taught driver’s education at Tower Hill Auto School in Lawrence for 20 years.

Going to the beach, backyard barbecues, and games of 45’s made him the happiest. He would often say “this is living,” when enjoying his favorite things. He also enjoyed traveling to many different places with his wife, including going to Seabrook Beach, spending winters at Daytona Beach, traveling throughout Europe, and going to Las Vegas every year.
Paul will be deeply missed by his 2 sons, Robert J. Eldred and his wife, Patti of Methuen and Paul J. Eldred, Jr. of Wichita, KS; 3 grandchildren, Brian Eldred and his wife, Christine of Plaistow, NH, Lindsay Croteau and her husband, Matthew of Salem, NH, and Eric Eldred of Lawrence; 3 great grandchildren, Casey, Zachary, and Benjamin; 3 siblings, George Eldred of Florida, Zella Hinz of Maine, and Kathleen Robinson of New Hamshire; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Joseph.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Paul’s daughter-in-law, Patti, who took exceptional care of him and regarded him as her own father.
