WORCESTER-Avis A. (Werme) Landgren, 86, of Worcester, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Beaumont of Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband of 27 years, Stig B.H. Landgren in 1988 and her son, Karl S. Landgren in 2006.
Avis is survived by her daughter-in-law, Judith L. Buckroth-Landgren with whom she lived, and several nephews, including E. John Lindstrom of Worcester, several nieces, and cousins including, Brenda Zablam of Marlborough, Mary Lou Peterson of Sutton and Lorna Hammarstrom of Worcester. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Albert C. and Lillian E. (Hanson) Werme and graduated from Commerce High School and Worcester Junior College.
Avis was employed at various banks in Worcester for many years and retired in 1986 as Loan Supervisor at the former People’s Savings Bank. She was a longtime member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Auburn and the Vasa Order of America-Nordic Lodge #611. Avis loved her beloved pets, she enjoyed reading, bowling and going to the casino and the beach.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 23rd at All Faith’s Cemetery, 7 Island Road immediately followed by a gathering at the Shady Brook home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Avis’s memory may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church, 90 Bryn Mawr Avenue, Auburn, MA 01501.
