Richard J. Lebel, age 89, of Methuen passed away on May 15, 2017 with his daughter by his side. Richard was born in Ste. Rose Degelis, Quebec, Canada on January 29, 1928 to the late Theophille and Flore (Valcourt) Lebel. Richard was a very hard working and adventurous person and as a result, he moved to the United States at the age of 29. He enjoyed making regular trips back to Canada with his late wife Janine and his daughter Diane to visit family. Richard worked for 32 years at Malden Mills. Prior to working at Malden Mills, Richard worked as a lumberjack in Northern Maine. He loved anything to do with nature; gardening, building birdhouses, feeding backyard birds, and chopping wood for his wood stove. Richard also loved spending time with his daughter.
Richard was the beloved husband of the late Janine (Belanger) Lebel with whom he shared 25 wonderful years of marriage. He was the devoted father of daughter Diane Lebel. Richard was the dear brother of Georgette Dumas, Gerard Lebel, the late Andre Lebel, the late Marc Aurele Lebel, and the late Gisele Bechard. He is also survived by several loving in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Friday, May 19, 2017 from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Lucy’s Parish, 254 Merrimack St. Methuen. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery of Methuen.
