HUDSON, FL - Mr. Donald F. Rubino, age 81 died peacefully in the loving care of his family on May 14, 2017 after a courageous battle with Cancer. He was the beloved husband of Marilyn (Noreika) Rubino, with whom he had celebrated a fifty-ninth wedding anniversary this past August 24th. Donald was born in Boston on November 30, 1935, one of five children of the late Giuseppe and Elizabeth (Poolilo) Rubino, and raised in Boston where he graduated from Boston Trade School. Upon graduation, he enlisted into the U.S. Army and was a Korean War Veteran who served with the Allied Occupational Forces in France. He was honorably discharged in 1958 and began his civilian career with his wife Marilyn and their children in Tewksbury. He resided in town for thirty-nine years before moving to Hudson, FL, sixteen and a half years ago with his wife Marilyn. He was a former Police Officer and truck driver who drove for Brockway Smith, Local 379, which would later merge with AFL-CIO Boston Local 25.
Don had a love for life and for those around him. He was deeply loved by many! He was an enthusiastic Patriots fan and watched every game he could, he also loved to spend time fishing.
Besides his wife, he leaves four children, Linda and her husband Brendan Harte of Tewksbury, Donald J. Rubino and John J. Rubino both of Hudson FL, Charles W. and his wife Michelle (Hayward) Rubino of Litchfield, NH; four grandchildren, Donna and her husband Paul Hureau of Tewksbury, Michael Rubino of Austin TX, Janelle Rubino and Jason Rubino of Litchfield,NH; two great grandchildren, Ryan and Jonathan; many nieces and nephews; and was predeceased by his siblings, Elizabeth Hanley, George Rubino, William Rubino, and Leo Rubino.
Visiting hours Friday, May 19, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. His funeral will begin Saturday, May 20, at 10:30 from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass Saturday at 11:30 in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte. 38) Tewksbury.
