William C. Wassung Jr., age 86, passed away on Sunday May 14, 2017 at the Genesis Elaine Center at Hadley. He was born on April 30, 1931 in Springfield, a son of the late William C. Sr., and Imelda (Riendeau) Wassung. He served as a Corporal in the US Army and was a Korean War Veteran. William worked as a painter for many years before he retired. He leaves his loving wife Mary F. (Daigle) Wassung of 68 years. He also leaves his sister Gloria Morrissette of Venice, FL. He leaves his 6 children; Dennis Wassung and his wife Karen of Montgomery, Gail (Wassung) Cavannah of West Springfield, Gary Wassung and wife Anna of Lenexa, Ks, Janet Footit and her husband Gerry of Belchertown, Mark Wassung and wife Cathy of West Springfield, Carl Wassung and wife Cristy of Feeding Hills; 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam Thursday May 18th at 3:00 p.m. The Grise Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
