Obituary

McKnight, Craig S.
Age 66 passed away peacefully in his West Roxbury home on Sunday, May 14, 2017 after a lengthy illness. Loving son of Mary F. (Lawlor) McKnight and Webster J. McKnight both late of West Roxbury. He is survived and loved by his wife Arden (Anderson) McKnight of West Roxbury, stepdaughter Heather (Todd) Robichaud of Brighton and his sisters Sheila McKnight of West Roxbury, Linda Flynn of Pembroke, Gail (Jim) Ferris of Walpole and Mary Pichetti (Tim Smith) of Needham, two aunts, an uncle and numerous cousins in MA, VT and KY.
He is also survived by and was especially proud of his nieces Jill (Mike) Gemelli and Laura Flynn and nephews Dan (Mara) Ferris, Jim (Heather) Ferris, Stephen (Galen) Ferris, John Flynn and Michael Pichetti and five great nieces and nephews.
Craig was born in Boston and raised in West Roxbury. He graduated from Boston Tech High School in 1968 and shortly afterward joined the Merchant Marines. Following that he worked for a short time for the Penn Central railroad. He attended Wentworth Institute and graduated from Northeastern University in 1983 with a BS Degree in Management Information Systems. Craig worked as a System Programmer and Asst. Manager of Computer Operations for 8 years for Children’s Hospital and was the fourth generation of his family to work there. He left in 1985 for Northeastern University where he worked as a Unix System Administrator and Sr. Storage Administrator until his departure in 2008 for Staples in Framingham. At Staples Craig worked as a Unix System Administrator until 2015 when he left due to his illness.
Craig was very proud of his Irish heritage and loved the stories his grandparents told of their journey to America and how they began their lives here. He loved his family and friends and had a great sense of humor. He had a very generous nature and was quick to help a friend in need. He also loved history and enjoyed listening to jazz and R & B. He spent many vacations on the coast of Maine and loved the ocean. His dream was to retire to a small town in Maine and build a wooden boat as he was a very talented woodworker. His dream almost came true. On May 14th, Craig left us with amazing strength and dignity. He will be forever loved and remembered.
