Jean Theresa (Fitzgerald) England, “Gidge”, 81, of Middleboro, passed away peacefully at home on May 12 surrounded by family after a lengthy illness. Born January 10, 1936 in Cambridge. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Dorothy (Duffy) Fitzgerald; two brothers, Eugene and Robert Fitzgerald.
Jean, worked 30 years for Sears & Roebuck, but being a mother and wife was always her greatest joy. She loved the sun, rainbows, and watching the sunset. During retirement, she enjoyed her days with her “coffee clatch”. She also enjoyed traveling, especially cruising, and cheering on Tom Brady during football season.
Jean leaves behind her sole-mate and husband of 61 years, Frederick; brother, David Fitzgerald of Kingston; daughter Donna (England) Rosano and her husband, Mike; son, Mark and his wife, Kristen; three grandchildren, Michael Rosano, Danielle (Rosano) Davidson, and Mark England; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Charles and Liliana Margaret, who she adored. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her services will be held Monday May 22 at 10:00 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph the Worker Church, Hanson. Burial will follow at 1:30 PM in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be held Sunday May 21 from 2:00-6:00 PM.
