Doreen A. (Pemberton) Lounsbury, age 87, of North Dighton, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, May 14, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick Lounsbury.
Born in Dighton, MA on March 16,1930, she was a daughter of the late James and Louise (Wilson) Pemberton.
Doreen grew up in North Dighton and was a1948 graduate of Taunton High School. Prior to retiring, Mrs. Lounsbury had worked in the bookkeeping and accounts payable departments at Perkins Paper and had previously been employed at Raytheon in North Dighton.
Doreen was a communicant of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic in North Dighton and taught religious education when the church was earlier named St. Joseph’s Church. She was a former member of the Taunton Women’s Bowling League and a former president of the AARP in Dighton. She cherished the times spent amongst family, and playing bingo and bowling with friends.
She is survived by her devoted children Nancy Haynie of Texas and Lawrence Lounsbury, Sr. and his wife Donna of North Dighton. She was the dear sister of James Pemberton and Diane Wheeler both of Taunton, and the late Phyllis Kozak, Raymond Pemberton who is survived by his wife Joyce and Charles Pemberton. She was the cherished grandmother of Christy Santos, Lauren Haynie, Michael Haynie, Lawrence Lounsbury, Jr., Laura Lounsbury and great grandmother of Kailey, Tyla and Mia. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a gathering in celebration of Doreen's life on Tuesday, May 16th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the PACC, 175 School St., Taunton
