Family and friends are celebrating the life of Josephine Ellen (Paulic) Mitchell, age 81, of 201 Elm Street, Mystic River Hones, Noank, who died suddenly Saturday afternoon at her home with her husband at her side.
Josephine was born in Flint, Michigan on April 23, 1924 the daughter of John and Anna Paulic. She has been a resident of Noank and this area for a several years.
She enjoyed an accomplished sales career, first employed as a buyer and salesperson for Prague Shoe Co. in Norwich. She later worked as a salesperson at LaFrance Women’s Apparel in Norwich before accepting a sales position at Bruce’s Shoes in Norwich. She retired in the mid 1980’s.
Josephine is survived by her husband of 35 years, Alden F. “Mitch” Mitchell whom she married in Montville in 1970. In addition to her husband, she leaves her children, Denise McGuire of Woodstock, CT, Cynthia Kline of New Haven, and Alicia Barger of St. George, VT; her stepchildren, Robert Mitchell of ElCajon, CA and Gail Brown of Lakeside, CA; her grandchildren, John Entwistle of Woodstock, Ryan Barger, Corey Barger, and Chelsey Barger, all of PA, and Scot Anderson of Fla; a step-grandchild, Jennifer Brown of CA; a great-grandson, Christopher Anderson of RI; her sister, Joyce Rossman of PA; and a half-brother, Mylan Paulic of Michigan. She was predeceased by two grandchildren, Christopher Entwistle and Jennifer Lynn Entwistle, and a sister, Janis Peek.
Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Wednesday from 11am-11:45am. A service will immediately follow at 12noon. Burial will be in the family plot in Smith Lake Cemetery, Groton.
