David Ferreira, 90, of Westport, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 11, 2017 with his family by his side. He was the husband of Mary F. (Paschall) Ferreira with whom he shared 69 years of marriage.
Mr. Ferreira was born in Fall River, son of the late Antone and Gertrude (Rogers) Ferreira and had resided in Westport since 1959. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a mechanical engineer for Chamberlain Manufacturing, New Bedford. A veteran of WWII, he served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was Past Master of the Massasoit-Narragansett Lodge in Fall River, receiving a 50 year pin for his 5 decades of service. Mr. Ferreira was a lifetime member of the New Bedford Rod and Gun Club and owner of Peaceful Acres, Westport. He loved his orchard and garden and spending time with his family.
Survivors along with his wife include his 3 sons: Dana L. Ferreira of Westport, Randy S. Ferreira and his wife Paula of Whitinsville, MA and Jeffrey P. Ferreira of Westport; his daughter: Leslie Belovitch of Westport; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late David S. Ferreira and brother of the late Edward and Daniel Ferreira, Genevive Germain and Ruth Oliveira.
A graveside service to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held on Monday, May 22, 2017 at Maple Grove Cemetery, Westport at 11 A.M.
