Obituary

Joseph “Joe” Cataldo, Jr. passed in peace, surrounded by family and pets on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the age of 80.

He was born in Boston, Massachusetts to his parents Joseph and Rose Cataldo. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary H. (Bryant) and grandson David J. Cataldo.

Loving father of Joanne Hennessey and Donna Cades. Proud Grandfather of Courtney Hennessey, Adam and Andrew Joseph (A.J.) Cades. Great grandfather of Cameron and Seth Cades. Brother of Arthur, Georgie, Diane and Marion. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

Joe will be fondly remembered as a loving father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He was a decorated and retired Boston Police officer. He also was a service member of the United States Navy during his youth. Joe believed as Baloo the Bear did, in “the bare necessities” of life inspired by his love of classic Disney movies. He also enjoyed Westerns and Looney Tunes cartoons. Joe had a fondness of nature, bird watching, stargazing, hot cups of coffee, reading the Sunday paper and an unconditional love for his pets. He had a memorable sweet tooth for Italian pastries, Little Debbie’s “zebra cakes” and custard pies. He had a remarkable lighthouse collection due to his love of the seaside.

Joe had a legendary stubbornness about him, a sarcastic and a witty sense of humor that will bring laughter and comfort to his loved ones for years to come. Demanding a Dunkin Donuts coffee before going to the hospital was one of his classic traits. He will be forever loved and greatly missed.

In line with his wishes, a remembrance service will be private.

In lieu of flowers, tune-up your car and check the air pressure in your tires. Trust us, he would have wanted that.
