Scott Stone, 52, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, May 8, 2017, at UF Health - Shands in Jacksonville, Florida.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Arbor Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 6PM until 8 PM, at Arbor Baptist Church in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Stone was born April 18, 1965, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Ronald & Barbara Ellis Stone. He was a 1983 graduate of Berrien County High School and moved to the community in 1987. Mr. Stone was owner & operator of Stone’s Country Meats in Fitzgerald, where he worked alongside his family. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was an accomplished musician, playing both bass guitar and piano. He sang with “The Singing Apostles” for over 20 years and dearly loved his musician friends. He was a member of Arbor Baptist Church where he was an integral part of the Praise Team.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nancy Metts Stone of Fitzgerald; children: Justin Scott Stone, Leigha Paige Stone & her fiancé Garrett Adam Wright and Abby Lee Stone, all of Fitzgerald; his parents: Ronald & Barbara Stone of Enigma; siblings: Mark & Deidra Stone of Enigma, Mike & Cecilia Stone of Enigma and Mandy Gaines of Fitzgerald; six nieces and nephews; one great nephew; his father-in-law, Jerry Metts & Connie of Alapaha and his mother-in-law, Patricia Cavenaugh Metts of Tifton.
