ANDOVER-George W. “Twinnie” McClune, 91, formerly of 33 Cheever Street, Worcester, died Saturday, September 17th in Wingate at Andover. His wife of 53 years Elizabeth D. (O’Callaghan) McClune died in 1993. He leaves 2 sons; James M. and his wife Rosemary E. McClune of Andover and George P. and his wife Nancy R. McClune of Houston, a daughter; Mary E. wife of Ronald W. LeBlanc of Dudley, 5 grandchildren; Matthew J. McClune of France, Captain Bryan R. McClune, USMC of San Diego,CA, Catherine M. McClune of Vermont, Mark P. McClune of Spokane, WA and Meaghan E. LeBlanc of Dudley, and several nephews and nieces. His twin brother; William J. McClune died in 1986.
He was born in Worcester the son of George V. and Mary Louise (Humphrey) McClune. Mr. McClune had been a machinist for over 40 years at Worcester Pressed Steel, retiring in 1975. He was a World War 2 Army Veteran. Mr. McClune was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, its St. Vincent DePaul Society, and was the recipient of the Top Hat Award in 2001.He was also a member of Vernon Hill Post, American Legion. He enjoyed volunteering, especially with Catholic Charities and Our Lady of the Way Homeless Shelter.
The funeral is Tuesday, September 20th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart Church, 600 Cambridge Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, September 19th from 7:00 until 9:00 PM in the funeral home.
