John M. Hanley passed away suddenly at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford. He was 64. A life-long Medford resident, John graduated from Medford High School, served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and then enjoyed a long career with the US Postal Service, until his retirement. As a boy, John was an athlete and after his military service, he devoted much of his free time to advocacy and helping disabled veterans. He was a caring and decent man who loved his family and friends and who was generous to those who were struggling.
The cherished son of Marie (Fusco) Hanley of Medford and the late John Hanley. He was the beloved brother of Maria Hanley and Robert Galante; Frannie Mahoney; Tim Hanley and his wife Terri; Linda Jonuskis and Lisa Hanley. John was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his best friend Nancy Oakes.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday May 11th at 8:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, at 9:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 – 8 PM.
