Obituary

Thomas H. Roy, Sr. 91, of Franklin died May 4 in Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Gloria M. (DallaVia) Roy who died in 2005 after more than 50 years of marriage.

Born in Brockton, April 17, 1926, the son of the late Thomas H. and Edith (Buck) Roy, Mr. Roy had lived in Franklin since 1953.

Mr. Roy had been the superintendent of Hathaway Patterson Lumber Company, retiring after working there for more than 30 years.

After he retired Tom began creating and building custom bird houses which he gave to family and friends.

A talented woodworker he also made a replica doll house of the home in which he & Gloria lived that he gave as a gift to his adored granddaughter.

Tom enjoyed eating with his friends at Nicky’s in Wrentham and was an avid puzzle maker.

He served in the Army during World War II attaining the rank of Tech. 5 and was stationed in the Pacific in the Philippines and in Japan after the ending of the War.

He is survived by his devoted son Thomas H. Roy, Jr, his wife Deb and granddaughter Jillian.

He is also survived by his siblings. Dorothy Dow, Helen DeMelia, Emily Madzelan, and Ronald Meservie.

He was the brother of the late Marion Fisher and Audrey Brown. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Tom’s family would like to express their appreciation to the ICU team at Milford Hospital for their wonderful care and expertise during Tom’s illness.

Service will be private.
