Obituary

Robert F. Bentcourt age 88 of Bridgewater, died Friday May 5, 2017 at the Hannah B. Shaw House in Middleboro after a lengthy illness. He was the loving husband of Rita (Badgio) Bentcourt for 51 years.

Bob was born and raised in Brockton a son of the late John and Florence (Readdy) Bentcourt and lived in Brockton for many years before moving to Bridgewater in 1973. Bob was a member of the Class of 1946 at Brockton High School but left school to enlist in the US Navy. He served in the Navy during both WWII and Korean Wars.

For many years Bob was a truck driver for William Badgio & Sons Trucking Company in Brockton. In his retirement he worked part-time at Eastern Ice Company in Brockton.

Bob had been a longtime member of the VFW Post 5737 in Abington. He was also a life member and past president of the Enterprise Club in Brockton where he enjoyed playing cards with his friends. Bob was also a sports enthusiast.
Bob will be remembered as a wonderful husband and a quiet and easy going man who was everyone’s friend. He was especially proud of his son Tom and his success.

In addition to his wife Rita, Bob is survived by his son Tom Bentcourt and his wife Sue of Middleboro and two nieces Terry Sheehan and Karen Olson. He was the brother of the late John Bentcourt.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton on Wednesday 5-8pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral Home on Thursday at 10:30am.
