Mr. Joseph D. Goldrick, of Taunton, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 6 in Morton Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Judith-Ann (Correia) Goldrick. He was born 80 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Joseph L. and Mildred (Lake) Goldrick. He was educated in Taunton public schools and had attended many college classes in the pursuit of his criminal justice career. Prior to his retirement, Joseph was employed by the City of Taunton Police Department for 35 years, where he attained the rank of Detective. During his service, he was instrumental in establishing the Neighborhood Watch Program, the Crime Watch Program, the Drug Awareness Program, and the Crimestoppers Program. Following his retirement, Joseph was Director of Security for Decatur-Hopkins in Taunton. Before his police career, he was employed at Reed and Barton Silversmiths in Taunton. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served during the Korean War and the early Vietnam Era. Joseph was a Life Member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Taunton Lodge of Elks, #150, and was a former member of the Italian Naturalization Club, the Eagles, the Taunton Police Patrolman’s Benevolent Association, and the 2nd Marine Division Organization. He was also very active with the Taunton Police Band. Joseph enjoyed NASCAR racing, traveling, his dogs, gardening, socializing with his many friends, and especially, spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he leaves: 1 son: Michael J. Goldrick and his wife, Loretta, of Taunton; 1 daughter: Robin L. Moitoza and her husband, George III, of Dighton; 5 grandchildren: Kara L. Costa, Ashley Goldrick, Katie Goldrick, Michael R. Moitoza, and Jack R. Moitoza; 5 great grandchildren: Savannah C. Costa, Isaac N. Costa, Sophia Parker, Benjamin Parker, and Colton Parker. Joseph was also the brother of the late Donna M. Goldrick.
Visiting Hours will be held at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Tuesday, May 9, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Funeral Services and interment with Military Honors in the Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne, will be private at the convenience of the family.
