Obituary


BAR MILLS- Earl U.B. Richards Jr., age 87, passed away on May 5, 2017, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born in Hollis on April 18, 1930, a son of Earl and Adah (Grant) Richards.
After graduating S.D. Hanson High School, Earl went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Throughout his working years, Earl worked for CMP as a hydro-operator.
Earl enjoyed snowmobiling, golfing, fishing, hunting, camping, and motorcycling. Earl and Alberta traveled by motorcycle, pulling a trailer behind them most of the time, through every state with the exception of Hawaii and all the provinces of Canada.
He was a member of Buxton Masonic Lodge #115, the Retreads Motorcycle Club, the Bar Mills Fire Department, the Maine Garden Railway Society, and the Saco River Grange.
He is predeceased by a son- John Richards in 2007; and siblings- Helen Ramsdell, Gertrude Lokken, and Melvin Richards.
Earl is survived by his beloved wife- Alberta (Carll) Richards; sons- Mark Richards and his wife Edith, Peter Richards and his wife Diane, and Paul Richards and his wife Marge, all of Buxton; brother- Alan Richards and his wife Sharon of Gorham; grand-children- Melissa, Amanda, April, Amber, Ryan, Ben, Josh, Peter, and Cory; great grandchildren- Hannah, Hailee, Cody, Garret, and Curtis; daughter-in-law- Nancy Richards (wife of John) and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday May 10, from 10 – 11 AM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton, followed by an 11 AM memorial service at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at South Buxton (Tory Hill) Cemetery with military honors. Rev. Allison Curry will officiate.
