New Bedford – Herbert Andrade, age 89 of New Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Claire Y. (Boucher) Andrade and the son of the late Maria (Bandara) and John Andrade.
Herbert was born in New Bedford and was the owner of Andrade’s Clean Kero where he peddled ice and oil for his business. He also had worked at Goodyear for 40 plus years as a fork lift operator. In the summer months, he would build houses as well as enjoy quahogging. He served his country in both the Army and the Navy.
Survivors include his wife; his children; Eleanor M. Correia, Sharon Lapre, Rachel Andrade and Leo Andrade, his sister; Dolores Lees and her daughter, Michelle Lees; a special nephew, Alvin Brown; a special sister-in-law, Diane Andrade who is the wife of his late brother, Marcelino David Andrade; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to the staff in Unit II at The Royal Taber Nursing & Rehab Center for the wonderful care that they continuously provided.
His funeral will be Monday beginning in the funeral home at 7:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Guadalupe at St James Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.
