Eva M. (McLeod) Horton Garons, age 99, of Framingham, formerly of Natick, died peacefully on Wednesday morning, May 3, 2017.
Born in Toronto, Canada, Eva came to the United States, age 13 months, after the untimely death of her mother. She and her sister Grace were adopted by their mother’s brother, Uncle John McLeod, and his wife Annie, of Gloucester. Eva graduated from St. Ann’s High School in Gloucester and attended Mt. St. Mary’s College in Hooksett, NH, Boston University, and Salem Commercial School from which she graduated in 1939. She was employed as a private secretary prior to marrying her beloved husband, Daniel F. Horton, on July 4, 1942.
Eva and Daniel had five children, two daughters and three sons, and resided in Natick, her home for 35 years. Sadly, Dan died of cancer in 1973. In 1981, she married her second husband, Alfred F. Garons of Yarmouth Port. They were married until his death in 1991. She has resided at Carmel Terrace Assisted Living in Framingham for 20 years. Eva’s constant smile and infectious laugh will be missed by the many wonderful caring friends she made there, among them her devoted healthcare providers.
She is survived by her children, Eileen Horton Dugan and husband John of Arlington, TX, Kathleen Horton of Burlington, Daniel F. Horton, Jr. and wife Kimberlee of Natick, and Michael Horton and wife Tara of Holden; her daughter-in-law, Ann K. Horton of Hopkinton; grandchildren Scott Daniel Marquis of Wilmington, John Daniel Dugan of Arlington, TX, Dr. Therese Dugan and husband Dr. Alex Thayer of Sunnyvale, CA, Kali Horton of Hopkinton, and Rebecca and Timothy Daniel Horton, both of Natick. She was predeceased by her son, Kevin M. Horton, and her grandson, Rory Daniel Horton. Eva is also survived by two precious great-granddaughters, Mary Jane Thayer of Sunnyvale, CA, and Aaleyah Ann Horton of Hopkinton; and two loving nieces and a nephew.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Holy Family Chapel at Saint Patrick’s Manor, 863 Central Street, Framingham, on Friday, May 5th at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at 8:30AM. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery, Natick.
