Joseph M. Gomes, 91 of New Bedford died April 28, 2017 unexpectedly at home.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Manuel and Isabel (Gonsalves) Gomes, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Gomes was formerly employed by the City of New Bedford Park Department for many years until his retirement.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his sister-in-law, Joaquina Gomes of Fairhaven; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Antone Gomes.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 8th at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. His family will receive guests on Monday morning from 10 - 11 AM prior to his service. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery.
