In Raynham, Edward T. Laughlin Sr. May 3, 2017, passed away in his home peacefully with his family at his side. He was 94 Edward leaves his wife of 62 years, Barbara-Ann (Dooley) Laughlin of Raynham. He was the son of the late Lawrence J. and Louise C. (Galligan) Laughlin of Taunton and was a ten year resident of Raynham, though lived most of his life in Taunton.
Edward graduated from St. Mary’s Grammar School and Monsignor James M. Coyle High School and was a student at Huntington Preparatory School in Boston when he left school to join the U.S. Navy and World War II. Ed served his country honorably for four years as a Corpsman attached to the Fleet Marines in the South Pacific aboard the Air Craft Carrier “Saratoga”. Following his discharge, Ed attended the Mass School of Physiotherapy and received his Bachelor of Science from the College of William and Mary in Richmond, Virginia.
Ed served as the Assistant Chief Probation Officer in the Bristol County Superior Court and retired in 2000 after 44 years.
Ed was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who cherished his time with family and his dog “Maggie”. In addition to his wife Barbara, Ed leaves his children, Jo-Ann Laughlin of North Dighton, Jane Goodrich and her husband Edward of Raynham, Joyce George and her husband David of Raynham and Edward Thomas Laughlin Jr. of Providence, RI.
Edward was preceded in death by his siblings, his twin sister Ruth Columbia, Louise Laughlin, Lawrence J. Laughlin and John F. Laughlin. He also leaves his grandchildren, Edward M. Goodrich, Daniel J. Goodrich and his wife Courtney, Matthew W. Goodrich, Erin M. Goodrich, Grace E. George and Caroline R. George. He also leaves a great granddaughter Lillian Jane Goodrich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 6th at 10 am at St. Ann’s Church in Raynham. Funeral visiting hours will be held at the O’Keefe-wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Friday from 4-7 pm. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Taunton.
