James T. Vail, Jr. 72, of Uxbridge, died peacefully, at home, with family by his side, Monday May 1, 2017 following a long illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Diana J. (Leger) Vail, who died in 2008.
Born November 23, 1944 in Lexington, Massachusetts a son of the late James T. Vail, Sr. and Lorraine C. (Barboza) Vail, he was a former longtime resident of Franklin and Plainville, before moving to Uxbridge in 2012.
He was raised and educated in Waltham and worked as a painter for Brandeis University, in Waltham for over 45 years and retired in 2009.
James along with his late wife enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, Canada and went on countless cruises throughout the Caribbean. He made many new friends at the Uxbridge Senior Center and spent his weekdays with a wonderful group of people, making them laugh with his “thought bubbles”. He was also part of the “Honey Dew” crew.
James is survived by a daughter Suzanne K. Kussman and her husband Jeff of Uxbridge, a son, Mark T. Vail and his wife Michelle of Marblehead, 2 brothers, Kenneth Vail of Burlington, Warren Vail of Waltham, 2 sisters, Patricia Erba of Boylston and Kathy Consentino of Dedham.
He immensely enjoyed being “Papa” to his granddaughter, Charlotte Diana Vail, who brought him much joy in his life.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours Saturday May 13th, from 11AM -1PM at the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Franklin.
A private family burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Franklin.
