Virginia Richard, 92 years old, from Noank, Connecticut, died gently on the morning of April 30, 2017. Virginia, a long-time member of the Union Baptist Church in Mystic, retired from nearly 3 decades of service as secretary at Mystic Academy in Mystic, CT. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Virginia was an adventurer who enjoyed travelling with family and gardening at home. She was an avid fan of UCONN women's basketball. Virginia was the second of six children by Joseph and Sylvania Rogers of Middletown, Rhode Island. Her siblings were Joseph Rogers Jr., Margaret Joyce, Donald, David and Emma Rogers. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Richard of Noank, CT, by her daughter Karen Winterholer and husband, Bryant, of Goshen, NH, her son, Ken Richard and wife, Betty, of Narragansett, RI; by their 6 children and many great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Union Baptist Church at 119 High Street in Mystic, Connecticut at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2017, The service will be followed by light refreshments and reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation in Virginia's name to a charity of your choice.
