Obituary


Roland J. “Chum” Roy, 90, of Berlin, NH passed away on Tuesday morning May 2, 2017 at the St. Vincent de Paul Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Chum was born in Berlin, NH on December 7, 1926 the son of Albert J. and Eva (Blanchette) Roy and was a lifelong resident. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by the Public Works Department for the City of Berlin for 20 years. Chum enjoyed bowling, taking his grandsons to youth hockey, camping at Timberlake and White Birches campgrounds and watching the Celtics in his later years. He was a US Navy Veteran.

Members of the family include his son Gary Roy and his wife Denise of Berlin; a grandson Tadd Roy; a great granddaughter Amber; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Juana (Erickson) Roy, a son Steven Roy, a grandson Heath Roy, a brother Leo Roy and a sister Alice Morgan.

SERVICES: There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held on Monday May 15, 2017 at 10:00 AM at in the Chapel of the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin. Interment will follow in St. Anne Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes may make a donation in his memory to the American Diabetes Foundation.
