WEST SPRINGFIELD – Suzette Marie (Sweeney) Hayes, 47, of West Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, April 30, 2017. She passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springfield on February 24, 1970, a beloved daughter of Ann Marie (Dufficy) Sweeney of Springfield and the late Edmund David Sweeney who was Called Home on August 15, 1993. She was raised in Springfield, attended Springfield schools and had lived in Springfield for many years. She moved to Chicopee in 2010 and later moved to West Springfield in 2015. She was employed as a secretary for the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission in Springfield and had worked in their Injured Workers’ Program. She later worked as the Restaurant Manager at the Burger King on Page Boulevard in Springfield. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed singing and dancing. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister who showered her family with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. In addition to her loving mother, she leaves her beloved husband and best friend, John W. Hayes. They were married on December 17, 2010 at the PNA Cafe in Chicopee and were blessed with many years of happiness together. She also leaves John’s daughter whom she considered to be her own child, Kierston Kolbenschlag of West Springfield; two dear boys whom she raised and considered to be her sons, Brendan and Matthew Gonyeau, both of Springfield; her dear sister, Marie Foxx of Springfield; her two dear uncles, William Dufficy of Kentucky and John Dufficy of Arizona; her dear father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Gertrude (Landry) Kolbenschlag of West Springfield; and her many dear cousins, friends and extended members of the Hayes, Sweeney and Dufficy families. Her funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of her family. There are no visiting hours. Her funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107.
