Obituary

Don Rubin passed away after an illness on April 10th, 2017, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Born on September 9th, 1932, in Newton, MA, Don lived a life of service. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, held many jobs, including working for the United Nations, and capped his vocational career with 35 years as a high school English teacher in the Red building of Brockton High School.
Don enjoyed the outdoors; camping and all kinds of animals, always tending to any sick or injured creatures, domesticated or wild. He was a lover of music, literature and the arts. Very skilled with his hands, Don was able to build or fix almost anything and took delight in solving puzzles and problems. He was also very politically conscientious and believed strongly in women's rights, animal rights, basic human rights and equality.
Don was a friend of Bill's for almost 27 tears and, until his health forced him to take a step back several years ago, was very active in the South Shore's AA community. He was always willing to help.
Don adored his family and is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Hessie, his two daughters, Eraina and Shanna, sons-in-law Jason and Dan, three beautiful grand children, Trevor, Deacon and Clover, his sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Don's life will be held Sunday, May 21st, 2017, at 3 p.m. at the Beal House, 222 Main St., Kingston, MA. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a cause you believe in, plant a tree, volunteer in your community or stand up against an injustice. It is what Don would want you to do.
