Wright (Dick) Holloway Adams, 85, of Whitman, passed away on April 29, 2017 at Saint Joseph Manor in Brockton after a long illness.
He was born in Quincy, Mass., graduated from Quincy High School, class of 1950. And a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He was also a member of the American Legion of Whitman.
He loved playing the piano and had a small band when he was a teenager. He was a member of the Brockton YMCA for many years and was an avid handball player who was hard to beat.
He was the son of the late Charles and Priscilla Griswold Adams of Quincy, and brother of the late Roger Adams of Somerville.
He is survived by his loving and beloved wife, Nellie Russo Adams of Whitman and would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in May. He is also survived by his devoted son, Charles (Chuck) Adams and his wife Deborah of Whitman. He was predeceased by his daughter, Gail Rogers.
Also survived by his grandchildren whom he loved, Paul (PJ) Rogers, the late Amy Rogers, Stephanie Anderson, Emily Murphy, Christopher Adams, and the late Chuckie Adams. Also two great grandchildren, Paul and Samantha. He was either Grandpa, Papa, or Pop.
He had a great smile and he knew how to make everyone feel good about themselves.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 3rd from 4 to 7 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Private burial at a later date.
