Obituary

James W. “Jimmy” Livingston, 90, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Dr. Brent Duncan officiating. His grandson, Jeff Livingston, will give the eulogy. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery, Ben Hill County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Mr. Livingston was born December 19, 1926, in Wilcox County, Georgia, to the late John William & Abbie Gibbs Livingston. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy and later served in the National Guard. He spent 40 years of his life in Florida and retired as a rural postal carrier in Silver Springs, Florida. He also worked in transportation for the City of Ocala, Florida and at Publix in Orange Park, Florida as a bagger and ordering bread and bakery items. Mr. Livingston loved to travel and was a Mason and Shriner. He enjoyed the past few years living at Shady Pines in Abbeville. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church.

He is survived by his children: Jeanelle Swanson of Fitzgerald, Ron & Marsha Livingston of Shelby, North Carolina, and Richard Livingston of Ocala, Florida; grandchildren: Mike & Angie Lynn, Wanda Lynn Tripp & Ronnie, Jamie & Becky Lynn, Stephanie & Lee Green, Jeff & Christine Livingston, Tracy Riggs, Ronda Livingston, Liam Livingston, and Tami Livingston; 15 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and his fiancé, Betty Dozier of Abbeville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Baker Livingston; two brothers; and one sister.
