Some people, like angels, leave a hint of heaven wherever they go. On April 30, 2017, Denise (Mulcahy) Wyse of Winchester, MA, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away. She spent her final days surrounded by all those who loved her.
Denise was born on November 16, 1948, in Cambridge, MA, grew up in Arlington, MA, and worked for many years at Steele Canvas Basket. She devoted her life to her family and friends and made everyone feel welcome and included. She remembered all of those with whom she came in contact and would be the first to recognize any special occasion.
Second to her love for family was her love for sports. Denise was an avid sports fan – she never missed a game for either of her sons and you would also find her in the stands cheering on nieces, nephews, and friends. She was a loyal Patriots and Red Sox fan and made sure her grandson Tommy was well outfitted to support the teams. After her son Greg moved to Virginia, she traded in the Bruins for her beloved Caps and became Ovechkin’s number one fan in Massachusetts. Denise also enjoyed spending time at Lake Winnipesaukee and serving as first mate on Russ’s boat.
Denise is survived by her loving husband, Russ; son, Greg (Jen); grandson, Thomas; sisters Jennifer and Mary Lou (Ed); sister-in-law, Adelaide; brother-in-law, Dave (Ruth); nieces and nephews, Lexi, Cooper, Bailey, Michelle (Chad), Danielle (Al), Katelyn (Sean), Courtney (Dave), Ryan (Annie), Lisa (Frank), Denise, and Scott; great nieces and nephews, Cole, AJ, Jake, Brett, Colin, Maddison, Delaney, Jessica, Annalise, Andrew, Frank, and Chris; great-great nephews and niece, Frank, Anthony, and Jasmine; and uncle Kevin (Gayle). She was preceded in death by her son, Shane; mother, Claire; father, Edward; brother, Jay; and nephew, Andy.
She considered the doctors, nurses, and staff at Massachusetts General Hospital, particularly those in the Lunder 9 unit, family. They provided great comfort to everyone and she never forgot them. Although Russ will always be her number one man, Slade and Jesse stole a piece of her heart through the care and love they provided over the last several years.
Denise lit up the room and was the heart and soul of her family, whom she loved dearly. Her selfless devotion to her friends and family was evident to all who knew her. She will be missed, but forever remembered.
