Walter A. Litke, 92, passed away peacefully at Westview Health Care Center on Saturday, April 29, 2017.He was born in Brooklyn, CT. son of the late Emily (Balkacka) and Walter Litke.
Walter served in U.S. Army with the 95th Infantry Division receiving a Purple Heart and Bronze Star during WWII.
He worked for over 20 years at the Mansfield Training School and Hospital as a Supervisor.
He was a member of Putnam Lodge #46 of South Woodstock, Order of the Eastern Star #106, also the Putnam VFW Post #1523 and Polish American Veterans of Southbridge.
Walter is survived by his wife, Joanne F. (Hejwosz) Litke, two sons; Paul and Jonathan Litke, a step-daughter, Joanne Backholm, sisters; Ruth Chandler, Esther Gallup and Hannah McNally, grandsons; Christopher and Gregory, four step grandchildren; Ashley, Elizabeth, Katie and Connor and 3 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a sister, Sarah Harkness, a brother, Samuel Litke and a step-son, John Dvorsky, Jr.
There are no calling hours and burial will be private.
