Obituary

Joseph P. Sheroshik Jr. of Olyphant passed away peacefully Wednesday surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his devoted and loving wife of 53 years, Karen, on June 27, 2015. He is survived by his beloved daughter and caregiver, Rebecca.

Born in Dickson City on Jan. 8, 1935, he was a son of the late Joseph and Matilda Drobna Sheroshik. Joe attended and graduated from Dickson City public schools. He met and married the love of his life, Karen, on May 12, 1962.

Joe was a hard-working man, dedicated to his wife and daughter. Before his retirement, he was employed by Chamberlain Manufacturing and was a proud Olyphant police officer for 23 years. He also worked as a security guard. Joe was a member of the International Association of Machinists. Joe love to listen to polka and play the accordion. Joe enjoyed playing the accordion for family and friends on many occasions. Joe will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Gilhooley and staff for the wonderful care given to Joe.

Joe is survived by loving and devoted daughter, Rebecca; sister, Josephine Martinelli; sister, Jean (Raymond) Middleton, sisters-in-law, Joan (George) Kalavsky and Cynthia David. Several nieces and nephews, great-nieces (especially his little movie star, Alexia) and great-nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Zupancic; sisters, Marion Dollak and Tillie Shoemaker; brothers-in-law, David P. David and Vito Martinelli and Frank Shoemaker. Funeral services will be conducted Monday from the Michael P. Glinsky funeral home,129 Grant St., Olyphant, with Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick's Church, Delaware St., Olyphant, with Monsignor Michael Delaney officiating. Interment in Dunmore Cemetery.
