William S. “Bill” Nevins 83, of Boston, died peacefully at his home, Monday April 24, 2017, following an illness.
Born July 1, 1933 in Dedham, a son of the late William S. and Eleanor (Hoffman) Nevins, he was a former resident of Dedham, before moving to Boston over 25 years ago.
He was raised and educated in Dedham, and was a 1951 graduate of Dedham High School. Following graduation, he joined the United States Air Force during the Korean War; he attained the rank of Airman 2nd Class and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in February 1957.
Upon returning home, he worked as a warehouse manager for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Jamaica Plain for over 30 years.
Bill was an avid bike rider, who often would ride his bike from Dedham to Jamaica Plain to work, he enjoyed the Boston Red Sox and often spent time walking in the woods to look at all of nature. He was devoted to his family and friends and was famous for not forgetting anyone’s birthday, and always sent cards.
He was a 50-year member of the YMCA and following his retirement continued to volunteer at the VA hospital.
Bill leaves many numerous relatives, extended family members and friends.
All are welcome to attend his graveside funeral service Saturday April 29th, at 11AM at Glenwood Cemetery Mammoth Road, Londonderry, New Hampshire. Interment with military honors will follow.
