Irene C. (Caputo) Haggie, of Medford, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 24th at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford. She was 89
Born in East Boston, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Nellie (Sacco) Caputo. Irene graduated from Medford High School with the class of 1945. She and her husband William married in 1948 at St. Clement Church in Medford and the two started their family with love and devotion.
A homemaker, Irene loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was happiest when she had a baby in her arms. Her joy was family. A woman of great faith, she lived her life in accordance with Christian values: love, hope and charity. She was devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and always prayed the Rosary at 6:30PM sharp. She never missed a night.
In her spare time, Irene enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City, Fox Woods and Twin River Casino. She also loved to cook. Everything she made was made from scratch and with love. Irene loved talk radio, specifically WBZ 1030AM and would go to sleep at night listening to the broadcasters.
Irene was the beloved wife of the late William W. Haggie Jr. who passed away in 2008. The two shared sixty years of loving marriage. She was the devoted mother of Carolyn I. Haggie of Medford and Eileen Fiore of New Hampshire. She was the loving grandmother of Carmen Fiore of Boston, Rene Kelsey and her husband Jeff and Angela Arria, all of New Hampshire. The loving great grandmother of Anthony J., Domenic J. and Mia A. Fiore and Emma Kelsey, all of New Hampshire, she is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Irene was preceded in death by her siblings Mary C. and John A. Caputo Jr.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Saturday, April 29th from 9-11AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford at 11:30AM. Services will conclude with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
