Obituary

Sally A. (Aramony) Abodeely, 92, of 31 Brookshire Road, died Tuesday, September 13, 2005, at UMass Memorial Healthcare. Her husband of 63 years, George M. Abodeely, Sr., died in 2002. She leaves 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, George M. Abodeely, Jr., of Worcester and William “Bill” J., and Mary Ann Abodeely of Shrewsbury, a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine M. and Najib Saliba of Shrewsbury; 2 brothers, Eli R. Aramony of Worcester and William Aramony of Alexandria, VA; a sister, Eleanor Aboud of Montreal, Canada; 6 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and godchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Fred Aramony.

She was born in Jewett City, CT, daughter of Russell and Nazley (Farrah) Aramony. She was a graduate of Commerce High School and Becker Junior College. Mrs. Abodeely, along with her husband, was a co-founder of the G. M. Abodeely Insurance Co., Inc. She was a member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral and its Women’s Club. She was a dame in the Order of the St. Ignatius of Antioch and a member of the Guild of Our Lady of Providence, and was active in community associations. Sally was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.

Funeral services, under the direction of Nordgren Memorial Chapel, will be held at 11:00 a.m. in St. George Orthodox Cathedral, Saturday, Sept. 17. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the Cathedral from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, with a Trisagion Service at 7:30 p.m., and from 10:30 -11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 before the funeral service. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Endowment Fund of St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna Street, Worcester, MA 01604 or to Holy Trinity Nursing Home, 300 Barber Ave., Worcester, MA 01606.
