James Marvin Leverett, 75, of Tifton passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Oaky Grove Church in Berrien County. Mr. Leverett will be laid to rest at Oaky Grove Church Cemetery in Berrien County. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 27, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Oaky Grove Church in Berrien County.
Jesse Leverett, Lee Leverett, James Michael Bohannon Jr., Mark Strickland, James Leverett, Ethan Leverett and Arthur Strickland will serve as pallbearers.
Born October 1, 1941 in Lumber City, Mr. Leverett was the son of the late Johnnie Robert Leverett and Gladys Mae Evans Leverett. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Melvin Leverett and George Thomas Leverett; and one sister, Kate Castleberry. Before retiring, he worked as a parts cleaner at Kelley Manufacturing Company in Tifton.
Mr. Leverett is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Walker Leverett of Tifton; two sons, James Robert Leverett of Tifton and Richard Ray Leverett of Box Springs; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Susan Teressa Leverett and Mark Strickland of Callahan, Florida, Donna Marie and Michael Bohannon of Kentuckey and Margaret Annette Rangel of Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Connie Leverett of Sparks; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Viola Hamilton and Irene and David Spires, all of Sparks; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
