NATICK: Mary T. (Pedone) Nickinello, 100 years of age, died peacefully and comfortably at her Natick residence surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 12, 2017.
She was born in Saugus on December 27, 1916 the daughter of the late Domenic Pedone and Angelina (Terranova) Pedone.
Mary was the beloved and devoted wife for 66 years of the late Anthony P. Nickinello, Sr. who died on March 9, 2003.
Mary was the loving mother of Anthony P. “Tony” Nickinello, Jr. of San Jose, CA; Louis R. Nickinello, Sr. and his wife Trish Nickinello of South Yarmouth and Marie T. Mitchell and her husband Scott Mitchell, Sr. of Natick. She was the cherished grandmother of 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Josephine Catalucci, Samuel Pedone, Ann Anzalone and Louise Cirrone.
Mary spent her formative years in Saugus where she was educated in the Saugus School system. For over 65 years she has resided in Natick also enjoying summers in South Yarmouth and winters in Fort Lauderdale, FL. For many years, she volunteered as a “pink lady” at the Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick. She spent countless hours working by her husband’s side Anthony in the operation of the Day Square Plumbing in Natick.
Mary was a fabulous cook and loved to entertain for her family and friends; cooking was how she shared her love with everyone. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother and enjoyed every minute spent with her large family. In 2016, Mary celebrated her 100th birthday with all of those that she loved surrounding her on that special day and sharing wonderful memories.
While she and Anthony were retiring in Fort Lauderdale, they were active in the Italian-American Club. She was a longtime and active communicant of Saint Zepherins Church and the Womens Club.
Visitations will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte. 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 9:00 am followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherin Church, 99 Main Street (Rte. 27), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Nickinello family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Cochituate Village, Wayland.
