Diana L. (Porter) Hughes age 71 of Bridgewater, died Friday April 21, 2017 surrounded by her family at the South Shore Hospital after a brief illness. She was the loving wife of Kenneth P. Hughes. Diana was born and raised in Weymouth a daughter of the late Lawrence and Mae (Howsberger) Porter and had been a resident of Bridgewater for the past 35 years.
A graduate of Weymouth High School, Diana became a licensed practical nurse. As an LPN, she was a cancer registrar at several local hospitals and was working at St. Ann Hospital in Fall River at the time of her illness.
Diana had been a member of the National Cancer Registrars Association and enjoyed horseback riding in her free time. Family was most important to Diana and she cherished time spent with her husband and sons and watching her grandchildren grow. She will be remembered as a loving and caring woman with an amazing smile and laugh.
Diana was the mother of Scott Sherrick and his wife Robin of Bridgewater, Brad Sherrick of Braintree and Mark Sherrick and his wife Katie of Braintree. She was the grandmother of Stephanie, Samantha, Hailey, Hannah, Presley and Kennedy Sherrick. Diana was the sister of Gail Smith of Florida and the late Janice Porter and cousin of George Andersen and his wife Dianne of Pembroke.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton on Wednesday 4-8pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Thursday at 9am for a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Bridgewater at 10am.
