Erlinda Garcia, 79, of Ventura, passed away on April 20, 2017 at Ventura County Medical Center. Erlinda was born in Midland, Texas to Crecencio and Cecelia Alvarado on November 2, 1937. In 1959, she moved to California. Erlinda wedded Ernest M. Garcia and they were married for 52 years. While raising her family with her late husband, she worked hard at a Saticoy Lemon Association. She retired in 1999.
Erlinda had a green thumb and a great talent in the garden, specializing in caring for orchids and nurturing the many beautiful blooms filling her garden. She loved many activities: cooking, reading, and most especially spending time with her family.
Erlinda is survived by her sons: Ernest A. Garcia, Jr. and his fiance Lisa Ruelas of Oxnard, and William Garcia of Ventura; her daughter, Rosalinda Garcia of Ventura; her brothers: Ernest, Rudy, Gus, and Raul Alvarado, all of Texas; her sisters Estella Acuna, Annie Tellez, Eloisa Elizondo, and Mary McKenny, all of Texas; her grand children: Garbriel Garcia, Anthony Garcia, Rachelle Garcia, Kathy Tafoya, William Garcia, Diandra Garcia, Jocelyn Ortega, Felix Ortega, and Michael Ortega; and her great-grandchildren: Alajandro, Eliza, Angelina, David, Jasleen, and Jenavie.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ernest Garcia; her brothers: Henry Alvardo and Crecencio Alvarado; and her grandson, Ernest Garcia.
Friends may visit at the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited at the Funeral Home at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 in the San Buenaventura Mission. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Cemetery, Ventura.
