Doris McClendon Williams,94, wife of the late Coach A.L. Williams, Jr., died April 20, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Emily and William McClendon and the sister of the late Mildred Morris, Grady, Violet, and William McClendon, Jr.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Greg Hatfield and Dr. Raymond Whiting officiating. The family will greet friends at the graveside after the service.
Doris was a graduate of Tubman High School for Girls and Hearst Business College. Prior to the birth of her first child she was employed at the Georgia Railroad Bank. She was a life-long member of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church and was followed by CareForce at Trinity on the Hill UMC.
Doris was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Williams, and Janice Whiting (Dr. Ray Whiting); her four grandchildren, Laura Evans (Daniel), Sarah Turnage (Stoney), Grace Brown (Chris), and Isaac Brown; her great-grandchild, Mackenzie Ainsworth; and her three step-grandchildren, Ashley Gordy (James), Shelagh Whiting, and Austin Whiting.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Westwood Nursing Facility for the care given to Mrs. Williams.
