Obituary

John “Jack” Cunningham of Franklin passed away peacefully on April 19, 2017

He was the beloved husband of Judy (Cox) Cunningham for the past 55 years.

Born on December 23, 1936 in Boston, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Keeley) Cunningham.

Jack grew up in the Roslindale neighborhood of Boston and was a graduate of the Boston Trade School. Following graduation, he entered the Air Force and served as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War. After his discharge from the Air Force, Jack started his long career in the electronics industry.

Jack worked for different companies all over the country. The last several years of his career were in Chicago where he and his partner founded Valuetronics Inc.

At different times of his life, Jack golfed and played tennis and an was an avid skier. He was also a huge New England Sports fan wherever he lived. An avid traveler, he and Judy enjoyed many adventures while visiting many countries. Cruising in style was their specialty.

He also enjoyed many “working” vacations at such places like son Michael’s Northern Vermont project, son Stephen’s Berkshire Bounty Farm in the Berkshires and a family favorite fishing camp near Homer, Alaska where he fished for (and occasionally caught) salmon. He and friends would get together for a Chinese cooking fest and he had an unhealthy passion for oatmeal raisin cookies.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, Michael J. Cunningham of East Taunton, Susan M. Morrison of Franklin, and Stephen P. Cunningham and his husband Daryl Wickstrom of NY; his grandchildren Meghan, Shannon, and Patrick Morrison. He is also survived by his two brothers Thomas Cunningham and his wife Linda of San Diego, and Michael Cunningham and his wife Candice of Hawaii. He was the brother of the late Nancy Cunningham. He was also grandfather to two 4-legged grandkids that he loved very much, Paddington and Bruschi.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Ginley Funeral Home, 131 Main Street, Franklin, on April 24, 2017 at 8:15 AM followed by a funeral Mass at 9:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 130 South Street, Wrentham. Visiting hours are Sunday April 23rd from 2 to 5pm. Burial will be private at the request of his family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack’s memory to Gateway Arts, 62 Harvard Street, Brookline, MA 02445
