Obituary

Of West Yarmouth and Sarasota, FL and formerly of Taunton and Raynham, died peacefully at the Hannah B.G. Shaw Home, Middleboro, MA at the age of 89. He was always known as Bill by his family, friends and business acquaintances.

Born in Taunton to William J. Miller, Sr. & Lila (Greene) Miller, and resided at 221 Winthrop Street with his four sisters: Dorothy (Newton), the late Marion (Snell), the late Irene (Bolen), and the late Louise (Kingsley).

He attended Winthrop Grammar School & Taunton High School, Class of 1946. His THS basketball prowess was recognized when he was selected “All-League 1st Team” 1944-45 and Captain & “All-League 1st Team” 1945-46. At graduation he was voted “Outstanding Athlete Of The Year”.

He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Lincoln, soon after graduation. They started their family with the arrival of sons, William J. & Bradford L.

At first, he was employed at his father’s Miller & Williams Ice Company. He became sales manager for Costello Buick, and then established his own auto agency.

He was a member of the Taunton Rotary Club and long-time member of the Freemasons, King David Lodge.

His marriage to Barbara ended in 1970. He met & married Beryl Leonard in 1972. Later they established residences in West Yarmouth MA and Sarasota FL and lived a loving life until her death in 2012.

Along with his two sons and their wives, Sally & Pam, he leaves five grandsons: William J, Christopher, Bradford Jr, Jason, & Jared and one great-grandson, William J.

A private gathering will be at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, followed by a private graveside service at Mayflower Hill Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers, may be made in Bill’s memory to the non-profit, Hannah B.G. Shaw Home, 299 Wareham Street, Middleboro MA 02346.
