Eller Lucrell Rogers Martin, 91, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, April 22, 2017, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with Jeff Sharpton officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Ms. Martin was born January 21, 1926, in Alabama, to the late Walter & Lilly Mae Tomlin Rogers. A former resident of Florida, she had lived in the community for the past 40 years. While living in Florida, she worked as a fruit picker. She was a former machine operator for Shaw Industries, worked for Fitzgerald Blanching and was a janitor at Life Care Center. Ms. Martin was a hard worker and enjoyed dancing at the Opry and was also known in wrestling circles as “Granny”.
She is survived by her sons: Glendale & Maryann Martin, Frank & Beverly Martin and Billy Joe & Sandra Martin, all of Fitzgerald; son-in-law: James Reed of Fitzgerald; 25 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Emogene Overcast of Lakeland, Florida and a brother, Lester Rogers of Alabama. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters: Lillie Cordelia Reed and Shirley Kay Harrell, two grandchildren: Daniel Kelly Griner and Sheila Kay Harrell ; two brothers: James Walker Rogers and Glen Rogers and a sister, Ella Louise Rogers.
