Obituary

Margaret C. Bradley, 89, passed away April 15, 2017 after a short illness and a long, well-lived life.

Born Dec. 31, 1927 in Elwood, she was a lifelong Anderson resident. She was a 1945 graduate of St. Mary’s High School and attended Ball State. Proud of her Irish-Welsh heritage, she was devoted to her Catholic faith and a giving friend.

Her enjoyment came from reading, history, art, current events, genealogy, and shopping excursions to Indianapolis. She loved the company of small children, collecting fine china and crystal, and time with friends and extended family of all ages. She was not so enamored of pomposity, computers, seat belts or hot weather.

For more than four decades she served as an office assistant to Dr. Charles Armington and Dr. John Kiely. Following their respective retirements she joined St. John’s Home Health Care, happily toiling another 20+ years before reluctantly retiring just short of her 86th birthday.

She was a long-time Democrat precinct committeeman and election day poll worker. She attended the 1960 Democrat national convention in Los Angeles in avid support of Sen. John Kennedy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard M. and Margaret (Harnett) Bradley, and sisters Ann Bradley Russell and Patricia L. Bradley. She is survived by her brother, John H. Bradley of West Sacramento, Calif.; a niece, Nancy Russell Stanton (the late Terry) of Sun City Center, Fla.; nephews Jim Russell (Patty) of Carmel, Jack Russell of Denver, Colo., and Richard Bradley (Josie) of West Sacramento, Calif.; a great niece and great nephew, several cousins and numerous godchildren.

Services: Saturday at St. Mary Church with the Rosary at 8 a.m., calling from 8:30-9:45 and funeral Mass 10 a.m., celebrated by Msgr. Robert Sell. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Elwood. Arrangements: Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.
