Maria L. (Daems) Wijnants, 85, of Anderson, died April 14, 2017 at Community Hospital after a very brief illness.
She was born in Weelde, Belgium on December 23, 1931, the daughter of Felix and Maria Victoria (Wouters) Daems.
She was a seamstress at Fran Mar Cleaners, then Anderson Fur Company and retired in the 1990's from Alac Garment Service.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Anderson.
She liked to sew and read.
Maria is survived by her husband, F. J. Wijnants of Anderson whom she married October 21, 1952, daughter, Vicki King of Anderson; granddaughter, Catherine (Geoffrey) Shaneyfelt of Middletown, IN; great grandchildren, Colby, Collin, Kennady, Koen and Corbin; nephew, Timothy (Julia) Washburn and several family members in Belgium.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Maria Daems, daughter, Maria C. Wijnants, sister, Jeannie Washburn.
Mass of Christian burial will be 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Msgr. Robert L. Sell officiating. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service
