Sally “Darlene” Sumler Burrous, 59, of Tifton passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Tifton’s First Assembly of God with the Rev. John Thomas officiating. Mrs. Burrous will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 18, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mrs. Burrous will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Cal Carpenter, Justin Carpenter, Micah Baldwin, Hunter Caley, Ron Lawson and Greg Tucker will serve as pallbearers.
Born March 10, 1958 in Tift County, Mrs. Burrous was the daughter of the late Albert Tillman Sumler and Reathe Cox Sumler. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lee Burrous. Before retiring, she worked in the Sales Department at Tifton Aluminum Company.
Mrs. Burrous is survived by one son, Luke Burrous of Tifton; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ivey and Sue Sumler of Lagrange, Tobie and Clarice Sumler of Dallas, GA and Boyd and Wanda Sumler of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Iris and Gene Scoggins of Haines City, Florida; a special friend, Eugene Turner of Tifton; and several nieces and nephews.
