Helen M. Russell, 76

Dateline: Norton, MA

Helen M. (Langill) Russell, age 76, of Norton, passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her adoring family, on Saturday, April 15, 2017. She was the beloved wife of Donald H. Russell, whom she was wed on June 28, 1958.

Born in Norwood, MA on October 24, 1940, she was a loving daughter of the late Howard J. and Margaret J. (Cody) Langill.

Helen grew up in Canton and was a graduate of Canton High School. She had made her home in Norton for the past fifty-two years and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton.

Prior to retiring, Mrs. Russell had been employed for five years as a cashier at the Dollar Store in Norton. She had previously worked for fifteen years at the former Bradlees in Foxboro.

Helen treasured times spent with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and serving as a loving wife and caregiver to her husband Donald. She enjoyed knitting and was a loyal fan and strong supporter of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her devoted children Martha F. Jackson and her husband Michael of Texas, Patricia A. Cannata and her husband Brian of Attleboro, Gary M. Russell and his wife Heather of Norton, Michelle M. Russell of Norton, and the late Leonard “Fred” Russell and Donald H. Russell. She was the cherished grandmother of Erin, Brendan and Colleen Jackson, Ashley, Emily and Michael Cannata, Nicole Robert, Krystal Eldredge, and Corey and Jennifer Russell, and great grandmother of Miss Lilly, Connor and Logan. She was the dear sister of Mary Caron of Florida, Anne Riordan and her husband Timothy of Florida, Elizabeth Smith and her husband John of Brookfield, Cathy Nichols and her husband Bruce of Florida, and the late Leonard Langill and Eleanor Holland. She was the sister-in-law of Rosemary Langill, of Webster and the late Henry Holland, Walter Caron, James Russell, and Roger and Harriet Chamberlain. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Friday, April 21st at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will be held privately at a later date.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, April 20th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.
In lieu of flowers, Helen’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Kyle Bishop Memorial Fund, 361R Old Colony Road, Norton, MA 02766.
